Kotlas Electromechanical plant (KEMZ – transliteration from Russian abbreviation into English) was founded in 1970.

KEMZ is national enterprise specialized in manufacturing of rocket components. The plant also manufactures wide range of metal-plastic cylinders of all kinds of purpose, woodworking equipment, spare parts and equipment for timber and woodworking industry, mining equipment and turning shop.

The plant has complete technology of an electromechanical plant including forming production section, forge-and-press production section and others.

Nowadays KEMZ produces:

• Automobile CNG cylinders: capacity – 35, 50, 60 and 80 liters and working pressure – 200 kgf/sq cm;
• High pressure cylinders for aircrafts (16 sorts): capacity – from 2 liters to 25 and working pressure – 150, 210, 280 kgf/sq cm;
• Cylinders for fire fighting equipment: capacity – 35, 50, 80, 100 liters, working pressure – 40, 80, 150 kgf/sq cm.

• Production of cylinders was launched in 1996. Each sort of cylinder is provided with certificate of conformity.
• high-quality materials developed by specialized scientific research institutes are used in production of the cylinders.
• built-in margin of safety is no less than 2.7; actual margin of safety is 3.3. No cylinder's bursting has been occured since they had been sold on the market.
